Anyone who spends a significant amount of time on the internet, whether it be for playing bingo or any other purpose whatsoever, will have some concerns over security issues. This is particularly relevant to people who make financial transactions online as this requires the submission of a certain amount of very personal information such as credit card or bank account numbers. Those online bingo playing individual who have to top up their accounts at the bingo site on a regular basis, should at least know the basics of online security and how to conduct transactions in a safe manner.
For the online bingo player though, a few extra personal security measures could go a long way towards preventing any problems from occurring, so:
• Ensure that there is a firewall and anti-virus software installed on your pc before venturing onto the internet. The firewall will protect your pc from hackers and the anti-virus software will check your pc to see that it has no harmful software that has been inadvertently downloaded from the internet without your knowledge.
• Keep all of your internet passwords safe and do not allow anyone to have access to them, if anyone can access your username and password they can login to your bingo account and do what they wish there. If you share your computer do not check the “Remember my password for this site” box.
• Use a secure debit or credit card, banks have these on offer and Paysafe is a good option as it is a prepaid card that gives the user access to only that amount contained in it.
• Play online bingo ONLY on 100% reliable sites, if you don’t know what these are, stick to the big brand names.
• Check the security policy of the online bingo site you choose before joining and playing with them.
